Yogini Shelby Dawn Brown
Shelby Dawn Brown is originally from Huntington Beach, Calif., and has enjoyed residing in Clearwater Beach since 2001. She is a fun-loving, beach-loving yogi who is passionate about living a life of service and helping others.
In 2003, she began working for a local municipality in the field of code enforcement. While committed to the work, there are many ongoing stresses associated with public service, and she found herself needing some coping tools and peace of mind. This is where yoga came in.
In 2007 she began her practice under the watchful eye of some wonderful local teachers, including Tom Meagher, original founder of Yoga on the Beach, and enjoyed the profound life changes that came with a devoted yoga practice.
In 2010, she was called on to begin substitute teaching Yoga on the Beach by her beloved teacher Tom, and she gladly assisted him as the need arose. Moving forward, she completed Ally Ford’s 200-hour teacher training at White Orchid Yoga in 2012 and became certified with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher (200-hr RYT). She has been leading classes continually since that time at local gyms, yoga studios and of course, the beach. While trained in the Ashtanga style, she enjoys a practice that draws on a variety of yoga traditions and styles, albeit at a slightly more relaxed pace. She finds the beach environment most suitable for sharing the practice of Hatha yoga with all those who attend.
She says, “My teachers, especially Tom, showed me that yoga should be accessible, inclusive, immersive, and basically an all-around experience that could be fun and enjoyable. This is what I strive to share and try to bring to the classes I teach. Plan to have a good time and feel well.”
She looks forward to seeing you on the beach soon!
